Ryan Gosling Must Save the Star to Win the Girl in ‘The Fall Guy’ — Review
Ryan Gosling plays charming stuntman, Colt Seavers, in ‘The Fall Guy’ which is currently playing in theaters
Stunt performers and coordinators are the unsung heroes of every action film. They put themselves in the line of fire to entertain. Yet, with all their contributions to the film industry, they still do not have an Oscar category of their own. It was only recently that there was progress in getting performers and coordinators to be seen by the Academy.
The Fall Guy is director and former stunt performer, David Leitch’s letter to the stunt community. Outside of it being another movie where Ryan Gosling gets to showcase being a silly guy, it highlights the incredible work that happens behind the scenes to create these incredible stunts.
The Fall Guy follows stuntman, Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling) who is there to do all the “cool stunts” for Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson). He is content being just the stunt guy as long as he gets to spend time with the love of his life, Jodie (Emily Blunt), an up-and-coming director. After a stunt that goes wrong, Colt ends up falling off the face of the planet, leaving his “cool stunt guy” life behind as well as abandoning Jodie.
